5 Reasons why Selena Gomez is a good role model

Selena Gomez brought out her new album ‘Revival’ this year, and it’s incredible, possibly her best album yet. She has many ‘selenators’ who look up to her, and she is the perfect role model for young women for many, many reasons. So here are five reasons Selena is a role model:

1. She encourages everyone to love themselves.

Selena has had a hard time lately, but she isn’t giving up. Selena is still focusing on loving herself and being confident with who she is, and she is encouraging her fans to do the same. She wanted ‘Revival‘ to make her feel more confident and sexy – I think I speak for everyone when I say she has done a damn good job of representing young women. Despite her on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber and being diagnosed with Lupus, she is still going strong, you can see how she has evolved and become more confident and happy with herself. Despite the body-shaming photo of Selena that went viral and the problems she has with her personal life being not-so-personal, she is still showing us all that she can bounce back and that nothing can get her down. She wants to spread her self-confidence and happiness with her fans and encourage people that they should be happy with themselves, too. Every young woman needs an idol that can show them how to love themselves!

2. She knows how to stand up for herself.

Have you heard the story of Selena’s sunglasses? If not, you’re in for a treat! Selena was doing what she does best and being friendly, meeting all her fans, giving out hugs and posing for photographs. Some fans cried tears of happiness, some fans just smiled, others, well, threatened not to return her sunglasses that were taken from her unless she gave her concert tickets. Queen Selena was having none of that! She told her she is ‘immature’ and that she ‘didn’t wear the glasses anyway’. Brilliant! Selena is quite known to stand up for herself, and whenever she does it’s the talk of the town!

3. She loves her fans more than anything in the world.

Selena loves her fans so much, and it’s adorable! They say you shouldn’t meet your idol because they almost always turn out to be nothing like you expecting and not a good person at all, but I haven’t heard one story about Selena being rude to a fan. She loves her job because of all the people she gets to meet and she is overwhelmed by how loyal her fans are to her. And why are fans so loyal to her and always sticking by her side? Because she’s loyal to them, too. She never lets her fans down, and she is so grateful for them. She tweets quite often about how she ‘doesn’t know where she’d be if it weren’t for her fans’. A good celebrity needs to be grateful for fans because, well, just one tweet, follow, like, retweet, selfie together, etc. can make their entire day, even though it’s just a job to the celebrity.

4. She encourages everyone to be kind.

All you have to do is listen to ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness’ and you can tell how much Selena believes in being kind. Some people use their fame to promote themselves and get rich and popular, Selena uses her fame for good, such as teaching everyone to be kind. Selena is constantly telling people to ‘be kind to everyone’ and it’s inspiring. Many young women say they ‘want to be like her’ so it’s extremely important for her to be a role model, and I’m she has inspired many people to be nicer. She believes in being kind to everyone, even if they’re not kind to you. Some celebrities rely on drugs or get into bad habits and show a dark side of themselves – not Selena. She has done this job for a while and hasn’t slipped up, hasn’t shown any reason why she shouldn’t be a role model to young girls.

5. She lives life to the fullest.

Life is short, and Selena seems to live everyday like it’s her last. She’s so grateful for what she has and she doesn’t let anything get her down. She has had some horrendous publicity in the past, and it has never stopped her from doing what she loves. She shows everyone that dreams do come true, things do get better and you can be happy. Despite all the stress in Selena’s life, she never gives up, she never feels sorry for herself, she just gets on with it and inspires all her fans in the meantime.

There are many reasons why Selena is a role model for many people, but those five stand out the most. If there’s any celebrity a mother would want their kids to look up to, it’s Selena Gomez, for many reasons. Sel, keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing it right!
