Jeremy Clarkson to pay £100,000 to Top Gear producer
Jeremy Clarkson to pay £100,000 in damages to Top Gear Producer.
Jeremy Clarkson has once again apologised to the Top Gear producer he punched, after settling a £100,000 damages claim.
Clarkson was plastered all over the news back in March last year, after he was involved in a ‘punch-up’ with Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon over the food he was given backstage. Clarkson was enraged when he was told he could not receive a sirloin steak whilst staying at the Simonstone Hall Hotel in Hawes, North Yorks, after a long days filming.
Tyman was left with a blooded lip and also called an “Irish c***” in the process, prompting the producer to press charges on assault and racial discrimination.
The assault resulted in Clarkson being booted off Top Gear and dropped from the BBC altogether. Clarkson has released a statement stating: “I would like to say sorry, once again to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath.”
He also added: “I am also pleased that this matter is now resolved. Oisin was always a creatively exciting part of Top Gear and I wish him every success with his future projects.”
Lawyers of Oisin Tymon have said that the case has been settled and it is understood that Jeremy Clarkson is to pay out £100,000 in damages, some of which, the BBC contributed to.
