Kim Kardashian is struggling whilst North West dresses up as Minnie Mouse
Bertrand Rindoff Petroff/French Select/Getty Images

Last month, when North West turned 2, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West took the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan to Disneyland to celebrate the toddler’s big day.

Of course, the brunette bombshell took to Instagram to share a snap of North dressed as Minnie with her 38.1 million followers.

“Happy Birthday to the sweetest Minnie Mouse! Thank you to Disneyland for the most amazing day! I will post more pics later today was a busy day!” she captioned it.

Minnie has definitely made a big impression on the adorable 2-year-old, since she is still dressing up as the famous Disney character. But it seems like her 34-year-old mother is having some trouble dealing with her daughter’s colourful outfits. “The struggle is real! We cannot go out of the house like this!!! LOL,” Kim Kardashian wrote on Instagram on Friday.

Not easy, still not impossible.

It’s been two years. And I’m still figuring this entire thing out. I have good days, when everything seems just fine, and others so bad that it looks like the end of the world. This is how a hypothyroidism carrier life looks like, when it’s all new. However, there’s always a way. After all, once you have it, it’s a lifelong company, so you better take care of it.

Your hormones tell all of the cells in your body how it should proceed and at what speed. However some people lack this balance which causes problems in the communication. The lack of balance may be for two main reasons: over-production of hormones (Hyperthyroidism), which makes your body overwork, or in my case (Hypothyroidism), not enough thyroid hormone, which makes your body slow down.

In the early stages, you barely recognize the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but as your system gets slower you may develop more signs. Some of them being:

  • Unexplained weight gain/Puffy face
  • Fatigue
  • Depression
  • Irregular menstrual cycle
  • Hair loss
  • Dry Skin/ Weak nails
  • Constipation
  • Slower heart rate
  • Muscle weakness/pain
  • High Cholesterol levels

…and so many more.

Good news: It can easily be diagnosed with a blood test and treated with, usually, a pill per day (containing synthetic thyroid hormone levothyroxine). The dosage can change depending on your body’s need to balance your system. It can take some time to determine the proper amount, but in a few weeks you should experience the changes.

Bad news: These pills will be with you for your entire life. BUT untreated hypothyroidism will offer you other health problems, such as: obesity, joint pain, infertility/birth defects, heart disease, mental health issues and some others, very critical, but rare.

Anyone can develop this disease, but that can come with an explanation: Autoimmune disease (when your immune system produces antibodies that attack your own tissues); use of certain medication; pregnancy; Iodine deficiency (mineral essential to produce hormones), etc. The risk usually is for (most) women older than 60, but well, I’m 22.

I still cannot control it properly and I’m changing my medication a lot lately. I am experiencing some new symptoms and it is getting me really nervous. Nevertheless, I have to live with it and find my balance. So my advice is to learn all about it, and all the options to help you stabilise. For me the worse thing is how it gets through your emotions and most of times you just feel depressed, or without the will to be happy.

Also you have no strength to do anything: hobbies, work, have fun, socialise. Therefore, it happens that some days, or a few of them consecutively, you are just down. But don’t let it get you. At least, that’s what I keep saying to myself and that’s what I keep fighting against.

Some friends or even family members of a hypothyroidism carrier don’t understand or don’t realise that some behaviour can be connected with this, which is normal. But being there it’s enough. Thus, we apologise for any inconvenience! It’s a long road, but there are many people who’s able to manage it easily.

I believe it just depends on each individual, and how they want to face it. There are so many other worse things in life, so many worse diseases some people fight, why going down now? I had a pulmonary embolism, and thanks to that I figure the hypothyroidism faster, just in time to start doing something, so can I complain?

Therefore, with my recent research, I’ll give some, small, still important, tips for all my mates in this lifetime marathon:

  • Choose what you eat properly:
  1. Avoid: Soy; certain vegetables like cabbage and broccoli; gluten; fast, processed and sugary foods; too much fiber; coffee; and alcohol.
  2. Go for: Fish; nuts; whole grains (balanced and hours after medication); fresh fruits and certain vegetables; seaweed; beans; and dairy.
  • Try to balance your body weight:
  1. Eat properly and have small and frequent meals.
  2. Exercise often.
  3. Take the medicine.
  • Deal with your emotions:
  1. Reduce stress.
  2. Get good sleep (fresh bedroom; avoid big snacks before bed; relax; have a comfy bed).
  3. Talk to a therapist (will help with the attitude towards the condition; and depression).
  4. Be social.
  • Most important: Get support
  1. Your doctor (you need someone who knows better and you need to be doing tests frequently) or/and therapist.
  2. Your family.
  3. Your friends.
  4. A support group (maybe).

As you can see, there’s a lot going on with hypothyroidisms. But it can happen in everyone lives, so it’s better to be prepared. Anyway, this is an excuse for nothing; just live a normal life because you can!!

Katy Perry tops this year’s Forbes top-earning list
feelgrafix.com

Katy Perry is well known for her colourful, chameleonic and vibrant style. But the Roar singer is also famous for her hit-making ability.

In fact, the brunette bombshell has conquered so many fans that her music has made her the highest earning female celebrity in this year’s Forbes top-earning list.

The blue-eyed beauty is thought to have earned $135 million last year, becoming the third highest-earning celebrity in the world, and the first one in the female department.

Perry, who graces the cover of Forbes, is followed by One Direction, who pocketed $130 million, and Taylor Swift, the only other female to reach the top 10, coming in at number 9 with $80 million.

The California ‘gurl’ didn’t hide her excitement and took to Instagram to share the good news with her 22.9 million followers by posting a picture of her new cover shot.

“Before accepting the offer to be on the cover of Forbes, I was told that a lot of women have previously shied away from doing it. I wondered if it was because they thought socially it would look like they were flaunting or bragging or it wasn’t a humble decision. Ladies, there is a difference between being humble and working hard to see the fruits of your labor blossom, and your dreams realized. Hopefully this cover can be an inspiration to women out there that it’s okay to be proud of hard earned success and that there is no shame in being a boss. Also… don’t think that I didn’t celebrate this moment by going straight to Taco Bell and getting my crunch wrap supreme,” she captioned the snap, where she wears a tuxedo jacket with dollar signs.

Did you think Katy Perry would be the highest earning female celebrity in the world?

Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Joe Jonas, Calvin Harris and Karlie Kloss are touring London
hollyscoop.com

It seems like everything’s about Taylor Swift these days.

The Bad Blood star has not only challenged Apple and made the company back down over not paying royalties to artists during Apple Music’s three-month trial period, but also performed at Hyde Park this weekend, where she was joined onstage by celebrities from the likes of Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss and Serena Williams.

Yes, everybody knows Swift has plenty of best friends. So she decided to spend a little extra time in London enjoying every minute with them – even if that meant hanging out with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas.

The 25-year-old singer took Jonas, Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss for a ride on a boat across the Thames River, as they made their way to see The Killers’ concert.

Of course, her new beau Calvin Harris was there as well. Awkward?

The Shake It Off star took to Instagram to share the moment with her 35.4 million followers. “Little known fact: Karlie is secretly an unofficial historian/London tour guide. Kind of,” she captioned it.

The picture shows Tower Bridge emerging from a beautiful sunset, whilst Swift hugs Harris and Jonas cuddles up with model Hadid.

In case you have forgotten, songs such as Forever and Always and You’re Not Sorry –from Swift’s album Fearless– were inspired by her breakup with Jonas which, according to her, happened over a 27-second phone call.

Do you think this was an awkward moment, or is Taylor Swift definitely over Joe Jonas?

One might say Taylor Swift has it all.

Not only did she forge a successful career whilst dating some of Hollywood’s most gorgeous men –Harry Styles, Taylor Lautner, Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer, to name a few– but is also one of the world’s highest-paid celebrities. Moreover, she is dating another successful celebrity, DJ Calvin Harris.

If you never watched Nickelodeon’s series Victorious before, you probably didn’t hear the name Ariana Grande until a couple of years ago.

The Problem singer, who released her first album in 2013, has come a long way since. Not only did she join Justin Bieber on his Believe Tour, but also recorded major number one hits with stars from the likes of Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J.

So, when we learned the young pop star was turning 22 today, we felt the need of joining the celebration by throwing back her best looks so far.

In third place comes this sweet and feminine white lacy dress, which she matched with staple black cat ears.

True to her diva style, she couldn’t help dressing up in black leather from head to toe at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The Moschino outfit, which ranks second in our top-3, highlighted her slim, tiny figure.

Back when North West was just a baby –the toddler turned 2 last week– Kim Kardashian was focused on losing the 43 pounds she had gained during pregnancy.

“Losing this weight has not been easy, but I did it, and that’s so rewarding, I was dedicated and motivated, and for me, that paid off,” she told People back in 2013.

Since then, the 34-year-old has illustrated the cover of Paper Magazine –going full frontal and showing off her bare bum– worn hundreds of sheer dresses and posed nude for Love Magazine. It really seems like she’s never been more comfortable in her body before.

So, when the brunette bombshell confirmed she was pregnant with her second child earlier this month, many began wondering about how she would manage to stay healthy without gaining as much weight as she did during her first pregnancy.

Well, she doesn’t seem to be worrying much about that.

“I’ve gained like 15 pounds already!” the mom-to-be revealed at The Daily Mail’s yacht party today. “It’s gone everywhere. “It’s in my boobs right now. My boobs are huge!” she added.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians showed up at the event looking sexy as ever in a tight mesh dress.

Lady Gaga’s pooch Miss Asia Kinney is the new face of Coach
Lady Gaga Instagram

As if supermodels didn’t have enough competition already, a new generation of puppies and kittens keeps joining the industry and stealing major campaigns from the human beauties.

This time, it was Lady Gaga’s dog who scored the major deal.

The singer’s French Bulldog, who goes by the name of Miss Asia Kinney, is the new face of Coach.

The news were Instagrammed by Gaga herself: “I am so proud to announce that @missasiakinney is the face and star of COACH this season! Shot by Steven Meisel for the “Coach Pups” Campaign!” she posted, alongside a snap of the pooch.

About a month ago, the Poker Face star uploaded mysterious pictures to her dog’s personal Instagram account, @missasiakinney, where she hinted an important announcement was soon to be revealed.

It’s been a great year for Gaga so far. On the 14th of February, she announced her engagement to boyfriend Taylor Kinney by posting a snap of a huge heart-shaped ring on Instagram. The couple met in Nebraska on the set of her video You & I, and have been together for four years.

What do you think of Lady Gaga’s dog modelling debut?

Why you should go to the Opera.

On Sunday evening I left the Coliseum in London with my cheeks aching from constant laughter. Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan was being performed by the English National Opera and they performed it well. The lyrics are stunningly witty and it is interesting to see how humour has not changed much over the past hundred years accept for becoming more explicit.

Opera is a rarity nowadays, especially since the late nineteenth century when Wagner’s Ring Cycle was written, after which Opera was considered rather academic and heavy going when its initial purpose is and was to entertain. Satirisation of this collection comes in the form of Sue Perkins screeching out “Penis,” in falsetto in the opening number of the first ever Comedy prom of 2011 dressed as a viking to the tune of ride of the Valkyries, but Looney Tunes also mocked the opera in the episode “What’s Opera Doc?” starring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd featuring many famous tunes and intertextual references from the works themselves.

So opera’s supposed to be deeply intellectual and serious, according to modern culture, resulting in such quips as: If you go to a musical and don’t enjoy it, it’s called an Opera, but in reality it has far more in common with your average musical than many realise. For example, “Pirates of Penzance,” wittily presents backhanded comments at every turn, made only more amusing by knowledge of the double standards of the Victorian era.

Fredrick, the dim-witted, but well-bred accidental pirate, tells a number of young girls that no matter how “homely,” their face, and “bad,” their “complexion,” if they will take pity on him, he will love them. Naturally one of them volunteers and her sisters ask themselves, “Would she have felt such a sense of duty had he not been such a beauty?”

Other great operas include “Carmen,” by Bizet which focuses upon the sexual exploits of a young Spanish girl, “The Magic Flute,” by Mozart a masonic drug trip, and my all time favourite: “The Marriage of Figaro,” by Rossini, which tells a tale of infidelity, cross-dressing and courtship. All of which can be found in english translations that retain the comedic value.

Whether or not you had realised it, it is most likely that you have already seen an opera, as the definition is a theatre production in which singing is the only vocal communication within it. This means such popular titles as “Jesus Christ Superstar,” by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and “Les Miserables,” by Schönberg are classified as opera.

Opera is often regarded as hideously expensive, even the cheap seats right at the back, but lately Cineworld have been airing common operas live for a far cheaper price, and fantastic sound quality, complete with subtitles. It is very common for someone to be put off by opera right up until they’ve seen one for themselves. So I urge you to try something new this summer, and next time you’re looking for entertainment, go see to the opera.
