Five reasons to buy Arkham Knight
The newest Batman game comes out in less that a week so here are five reasons to give it a go.
It’s been pushed back, it’s been almost cancelled and it’s had some pretty expensive DLC so why is it worth buying Arkham Knight? First, I want to clarify that I do not think anyone should fork out for the insane forty pounds of DLC on day one for this game with no assurance of quality. If you are swayed by this list I advise you go into onto Amazon and pick the game up for under forty pounds with a few little DLC exclusives. That aside, why should you pick up a copy of Arkham Knight?
Number 5: The Lineage
Arkham Asylum was a revelation when it came out, before it there had only been a handful of decent super hero games (Spiderman 2 for the GameCube comes to mind). Arkham Asylum became game of the year when it was released and is still considered to be a great game. Arkham City built on that success to make a larger more open-world title that was once again met with critical and public acclaim. Both games were made by Rocksteady Studios, which is handling Arkham Knight, so it’s not hard to imagine that Arkham Knight is going to be something special.
Number 4: The Batmobile
What is Batman without the Batmobile? A man in a cape. The Batmobile is so iconic to the hero that every time there is a new Batman film one of the first things that gets released is the new car design. Arkham Knight has added the Batmobile in allowing you, as Batman, to race across the map with faster pace and more action.
Number 3: The Knight
For the new game, DC Comics have worked with Rocksteady to create a brand new Batman Villain. This could be the start of something quite interesting as the previous games had amazing plots and with input from DC Comics the story is sure to be good for both for new and old fans of Batman.
Number 2: Gotham
To justify having the Batmobile there needs to be a big map, a huge map in fact. The map we are getting is five times the sized of the last Arkham game, which wasn’t made by Rocksteady Studios. Having the whole of Gotham, including Wayne Tower and all the iconic locations from the Arkham Games, will create a world that will feel immersive and iconic. This is going to make a huge game that you will be able to explore for hours, especially with all the Riddler Trophies and side quests which the Arkham series is known for, making the game worth paying out for.
Number 1: Teaming up
Batman hasn’t really ever worked on his own, whether it’s a team up with a Justice League member or one of the ‘Bat-Family’, there has always been some one at his side telling him how dark and brooding he’s being. In Arkham Knight, Batman gets the ability to team up with Nightwing, Catwoman and Robin making the combat more fast paced and complex. I can’t wait to run into a horde of villians with Nightwing and rip them to pieces. Here’s hoping we will get a DLC pack allowing us to team up with Bat Cow!
