Rihanna teams up with Manolo Blahnik for shoe collection
The singer has added shoe designer to her list of accomplishments
Although quite synonymous with Sex and City when the name comes to mind, the shoe brand, Manolo Blahnik has found a new collaborator with Rihanna. Fresh off her clothing and shoes collections with Puma, Rihanna appears to be entrenching herself in the fashion world with the news of this new collection. The collection with Manolo Blahnik was announced as Rihanna graced the cover of British Vogue dressed in a daring denim look with shoes from the collection. It seemed only right that the shoe brand collaborates with Rihanna as she has been spotted several times wearing their Chaos Ankle Strap Sandals in many colours which seem to be a clear favourite of the singer’s to complete her looks.
The collection, which has aptly been named “Denim Desserts” features six limited edition heels and boots with names such as ‘Sea Salt’, ‘Dancehall Cowgirl’ and ‘Rih-vi’s’. All six styles have been made with a dark or light blue denim. They range from strappy stilettos pumps to thigh high boots which have been embellished with sequins and embroidery. This collection sticks to the Blahnik’s aesthetic but captures the essence of Rihanna’s eclectic style and draws inspiration from her tattoos.
For her Vogue cover, the singer modelled her favourite pair from the collection which is a thigh high embellished boot with a garter like structure aptly called ‘the 9 to 5’. The singer cheekily referred to ‘the 9 to 5’ boots in her interview with Vogue saying - “those Boots are dangerous! If you’re trying to get back home to your bed, don’t wear them boots! You will get kidnapped in those boots, those boots are trouble”. The boots would certainly stand out in any crowd and make a bold fashion statement.
Vogue announced that “(the shoes) are priced between £541 and £2,458 which will be available from 5th May in London, New York and Hong Kong stores”. If Rihanna’s previous ventures are anything to go by, this collection looks to be quite popular for high fashion buyers with its unique and exciting styles.
