Jada Pinkett Smith is over the Oscars

Movie fans are not the only ones who are upset over the lack of racial diversity in this year’s Oscar nominations, some celebrities are too. One actress who is particularity upset and went on twitter to express her disappointment is Jada Pinkett Smith. She created a three part thread of her opinion as follows:

“At the Oscars…people of color are always welcomed to give out awards…even entertain, (pt. 1)” - @JadaPSmith

“But we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together? (pt 2)” - @JadaPSmith

“People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment. J (pt 3)” - @jadaPsmith

One Twitter user also chimed in about Mrs. Smith stating:

“Jada Pinkett Smith complains about white domination of the Oscars this particular year. Well, give her a Nobel Peace Prize & the presidency.” - @GeneLingerfelt

This issue has even sparked this year’s host Chris Rock to react as he responded to the news by tweeting “The #Oscars The White BET Awards” - @ChrisRock

It seems as if she is suggesting on boycotting the event and telling others to do the same. It’s going to be interesting to view who shows up on the red carpet and the overall attitude when the 88th Academy Awards premieres Sunday February 28th, on ABC.
