It´s nothing unusual, nothing weird, but it´s still maddening. Only half of the student graduates are working in jobs that relates to their degree. The reason for some of them may be because they decided to become a professional in another way but, for most of them, the reason is not that nice.
Everybody remembers that time when you started college and your parents used to tell you that you were going down the right path and you’ll find a job that suited you. To those who were that lucky to study something they truly loved and then find a vocation that mirrored that… Well done! But life is not just that.
I´m one of them. I´m journalist. Proud of it I fight everyday to get my dream. It´s not easy and It won´t be, but you should not give up. It doesn´t matter where are you working now, because you are learning. It doesn´t matter if nothing has to do with what you studied for.
The most important thing in life is to learn. You have to become the person you always dreamed of and learning how to do that is the best option possible. It´s probably that you are never going to be exactly the person who you thought you will be, but you can go some way to feeling successful if you keeping trying and work hard at it.
Do you want to be a surfer, a manager, a football player? Why not? Just keep working on it, because no one achieved anything sitting on a sofa (unless it’s your intention to be a couch potato). No matter how big your dreams are, if you believe in them and yourself, there is a possibility that you can achieve.
Be a mad person, become obsessed, be a hard worker and you’ll be happy in the career path you eventually lead yourself down. Don’t work for the rest, work for your soul.
