Thousands of same sex marriage supporters rally in Italy

The struggle for same-sex rights continues as allies gather

Time is winding down and patience is dwindling.

People are fed up and want action as Italian citizens marched through various cities including Milan and Palermo for same sex marriage and equality. Rainbow flags and signs supporting gay marriage were carried high and proudly in the fight for civil justice.

This outbreak stems from the government’s lawmakers set to debate and decide on this pressing issue as of next week and supporters are not keeping quiet on how they feel.

LGBTIA groups and allies are not the only ones however gearing up for battle, as opposing groups mainly of the Catholic belief are planning an anti-gay rally in a few days. This rally is speculated to express heterosexual living and the “man and woman family” based image.

Not so fun fact: Italy is the only major western European country that does not recognise same sex couples or have protective laws in place for such union.

As many government officials continue to push against this request for equality in this mostly religious country, this conflict is defiantly an uphill battle. Hopefully after all the rallies, and debating this country’s officials realise that love is love and grant same-sex couples the rights and protections that heterosexual unions utilise.
