Sporting stars and sexuality
sporting stars coming out and being open
These days sport is on the rise, not so long ago the woman’s football team flashed up on our TV and many other news channels and websites but now the fight against homophobia in sport is shining through and why shouldn’t it? Sport should be a right for everyone to enjoy and at the end of the day if you are good at something then you should do it and it shouldn’t matter on your sexuality, race, religion or gender.
The amount of sporting heroes who are standing up to tell the world that they are in fact gay has been on the rise for quite some time now, Tom Daley being one that I will always remember with his YouTube Video and he now has over 11million views, plus I have to say he was very courageous in what he did. It doesn’t stop there however because many more sporting legends have stood up and taken a stand just like Gareth Thomas the rugby star, you should also read his book it is an amazing eye opener.
In the media lately we have seen the likes of Tom Bosworth an Olympic 2016 hopeful who is in a long term relationship and a very recent Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy a 24 year old hunky American, he had a very interesting way in which he decided to tell the world but god look at that face, I am sure many men would agree with me when we say we really don’t mind.

It doesn’t stop there though, don’t think it happens to only be the gay sportsmen who are taking a stand because you would be so wrong. Have you heard of the Warwick Rowers? Well you’re about to! Originally they decided to make a naked calendar to raise funds for their sports team although they never thought they would get so much attention which I don’t see why not!
They then decided to put the power of booty to good use and team up with Sport allies, sport allies is an organisation that supports the fight against homophobia in sport. Onto the juicy stuff though the Warwick Rowers have decided to bring out a 2016 calendar which should be under most people’s Christmas trees I hope! But like I said before, it doesn’t matter what gender, race or sexuality you are everyone has the right to partake in what they are good at without discrimination!
I have to say a huge thank you too all our sporting legends who has come out and to the others who have stood strong and supported everyone. Check out this cheeky video below and buy your calendar today! Purchase your calendar here today!
Thank you for reading my article and check out my others for an interesting read!
