The second series of crime drama The Tunnel has been pushed back a week.

The new series of Sky Atlantic drama The Tunnel has been pushed back a week after the terrorist attacks in Brussels earlier this week.

The French-English crime drama starring Stephen Dilate and Clemence Poesy has been pushed back a week as a mark of respect.

Sky Atlantic released a statement, which said: “In light of the tragic events in Brussels, Sky Atlantic has decided to postpone the launch of The Tunnel: Sabotage as a mark of respect.”

The statement, released by a Sky spokesperson also said: “The drama, which contains fictitious scenes of terrorism, will now be broadcast on 12 April at 9:00pm.”

It has been reported that the first episode of The Tunnel: Sabotage depicts a terrorist attack on a British Airliner, with the new series being based around a complex terrorist attack, which caused an airliner to crash into the English Channel in series 1.

Emilia Fox (Silent Witness), Clarke Peters (The Wire), Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation) and William Ash (Shameless) will be added to the cast of the new series of The Tunnel.

The crime drama moves between the coasts of Kent and Northern France through the Euro Tunnel.

The Tunnel: Sabotage will launch on Sky Atlantic at 9:00pm on 12 April.
