Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift’s Twitter beef after VMA snub
Nicki Minaj received MTV VMA nominations for “Anaconda” in the Best Female Video and Best Hip Hop Video categories, as well as for “Bang Bang” for the Best Collaboration category. However, her track “Feelin’ Myself” with Beyonce was MIA from the nominations.
Nicki took to Twitter to express her frustration over the apparent diss:

After retweeting much support from her fans, she made the following jab:

Ooooh Nicki! According to the hip-hop star, “videos that celebrate women with very slim bodies” get nominations for video of the year. It would appear that she is insinuating that if she and Beyonce had the kind of body type celebrated in white culture, then they would have been nominated for a series of other awards.
Taylor Swift decided to take things very personally, believing Nicki was referring specifically to herself and her famous friends featured in the music video for her hit track “Bad Blood”:
Nicki tweeted back the following, possibly to drive the point home that she felt her words had been taken out of context and that she was frustrated at “racist media” - as one of her Twitter fans described it - rather than at Taylor in particular:
Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13

Or was Nicki just attempting to back-track after realizing that she had possibly angered the world’s biggest pop star? Regardless, her fans defended her fiercely:
I'm baffled as to WHY @taylorswift13 felt the need to come at @NickiMinaj for speaking on behalf of unsung black female entertainers..

Taylor responded with this amidst all the fan-chirping:
I think Tay’s last tweet seems pretty condescending. Also, she shadily deleted both tweets afterwards. Even though Nicki skipped over the fact that Beyonce was nominated in Taylor’s category for her video for “7/11″, I’m definitely #TeamMinaj - girl has a point.
