Who is Divinity Roxx?

She is an alternative Pop/Soul rapper and bassist, who also toured and performed with Beyoncé Knowles as her bassist and Music director from 2006-2011. Her latest solo album ImPossible pronounced (I’ m Possible) which released April 16th, 2016 is definitely a must listen. Her sound and vibe is similar to artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Janelle Monae, and The Internet, but also bringing something completely original to music.

Don’t just take my word for it, go listen to her single “We Are” which was produced by Keith Harris of The Black Eyed Peas who also played drums on this record. This lead single’s lyrics were inspired by Divinity Roxx’s former University of California, Berkeley professor June Jordan. Divinity stated:

“The lyrics were inspired by my former UC Berkeley professor June Jordan, (Poetry for the People), who wrote, “We Are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” She is rarely credited for it.”

“We Are is more than a song, it’ s the message I want to give to the world. We are the only ones who can positively effect the change we want to see in this world.”

You can find “We Are” here.

Divinity Roxx began to emerge on the music scene in Atlanta, Georgia after falling in love with the bass guitar while studying Journalism at University of California, Berkeley. Her bassist career quickly grew after attending a bass camp led by the legendary musician Victor Wooten, where she was invited to tour with him merely three months after the camp. After that, the sky was the limit for Roxx as she took a leap of faith an auditioned for Beyoncé and received the honor of being elected as a band member and assistant Musical Director, a job she would carry for five years. As if collaborating with one of music’s most iconic performers wasn’t enough, Divinity has played for President Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, the MTV Music Awards, and has covered Bass Musicians Magazine and Bass Magazine.

With a lengthy list of accolades, and a plethora of musical awards under her belt, Divinity Roxx is absolutely Divine.
