Disney are about to take all your money with ‘Playmation’

Video games with physical toy accessories are huge right now, ever since Skylanders developed the concept and business model several companies have started developing rival toys, but there has never been anything like this. Disney Playmation is the next bid from Disney to pry open parents wallets and with a combination of Frozen, Star Wars and Marvel Super heroes and it looks set to take the gaming world by storm.

The concept is simple, kids will be able to buy costume pieces from their favourite characters and then use them in an adventure with that character. Take a look at the trailer:

I have watched that trailer at least a dozen times in research for this piece and every time I can physically feel the money leaving my account. The game will come in the form of a Playmation app that will work with most gaming platforms meaning that kids will be able to play at being Ironman and Elsa anywhere. Playmation will launch on the forth of October with an Avengers series that will include an Ironman gauntlet and Hulk hands with a whole host of villains and heroes from both the comic books and the films.

Then the Star Wars Playmation expansion hits in 2016 and we might finally get a video game experience that let’s us feel like Jedi warriors, unlike Star War Kinect which just made most people feel nauseous. It looks like you wont only be able to play at being a Jedi but also possibly the Wookie Chewbacca and even one of the droids. It’s unclear yet whether the characters will be able to cross over, but judging by the Disney Infinity franchise it looks quite likely, which might result in an army of Jedi Hulks fighting for justice against the evil Emperor Loki.

If neither Star Wars or Marvel tickles your fancy it looks like there will be a Frozen Playmation set coming out in 2017 just after the second Frozen movie is set to be released. That’s right, as Frozen fever is set to hit a second time it won’t only be dominating the world of film but also the world of gaming. If you know any children you’ll know that at least one of these three franchises are going to make them go more crazy than a bucket of blue smarties.
