Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have split
They were one of Hollywood’s hottest couples. But sadly, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have ended their relationship after a year-and-a-half together.
The news came as a surprise, since the 54-year-old actor and the 39-year-old South African actress were set to walk down the aisle later this year.
According to a report from UsWeekly, it was the Oscar winning blonde beauty who called off the engagement after they spent time together in Europe last month.
The Monster star attended the Cannes Film Festival in May to promote her film Mad Max: Fury Road. She and Penn looked happy, and were pictured side-by-side two days later in Vienna at the Life Ball.
“It’s great when you find something that’s real and it’s hard to keep that sacred, to keep that private in this work, but I go home at night and I close my front door and I’m a really, really happy girl,” Theron told E! News back in April.
The blonde beauty, who has a three-year-old son (she adopted him in March 2012), also told Esquire she and Penn have “been friends for 20 years.”
