Empire star Jussie Smollett offically comes out as gay
Actor breakdowns how he sees his sexual orientation
“I am a gay man with an extremely open heart,” Jussie Smollett confessed for his Out Magazine interview.
Famously known for his Empire role as Jamal Lyon, who is gay on the show, the actor sparked rumours and speculations for several months about his own sexuality. He told Out that he was “never in the closet” and that now he’s ready to discuss it.
Jussie then goes into greater detail stating:
“With that said, I believe that love is the only thing that matters, and I would hope that anybody would leave themselves open — not to gender, but to love. I would hope that people would not close themselves off from what could be if, lo and behold, you meet somebody that just sweeps you off your feet, and you just can’t do anything about it,” he continued. “If we truly believe that we are born this way, then why do we try to stifle the way we were born? If I fall in love down the road with a woman, I’m going to love that woman.”
Boop! There you go.
For any haters who may dislike this “coming out”, his co-star actress Tarajai P. Henson commented by saying:
“Who gives a fuck? I don’t tell these motherfuckers that I’m straight. Why the fuck do you have to tell them that you’re gay?'”
Congrats to Jussie Smollett for living in his truth and catch him playing Jamal Lyon when Empire returns to FOX in March.
