Bayern Munich boss confirms Vidal rumours
Bayern's chief executive revealed that negotiations with Juventus began regarding Arturo Vidal. Judging by his declarations, a transfer is imminent. It appears the Bundesliga champions have already found the man to fill the void left by Schweinsteiger.
Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rumenigge has corroborated reports that his club is currently negotiating with Juventus regarding the transfer of Arturo Vidal.
The Chilean midfield enforcer is one of the most coveted players in Europe, but it seems that the German behemoths are now the most likely to acquire his services.
A few moments before the Bayern squad flew off to China for a lucrative pre-season tour, the loquacious Rumenigge said to journalists of Sky Germany: “I still can’t confirm anything with Vidal. We have to wait a bit.”
“We have to wait. We’ll definitely make a move before the end of the transfer market.
“In the end, I hope Vidal will come to us. [But] it is impossible for him to join Bayern to our tour in China. Even Bayern can’t sign a player that fast.”
In the wake of Bastian Schweinsteiger hurried transfer to Manchester United, the Bavarian club is actively looking for replacements. Admittedly, in terms of age, transfer fee and intrinsic talent, the most viable option is Arturo Vidal.
The Juventus stalwart has recently led Chile to a Copa America triumph - which was the first piece of international silverware gleaned by his home country. Vidal’s continental glory capped off his crowning as a Serie A and a Coppa Italia champion a month earlier. It also served as a consolation following the severe Champions League final loss suffered at the hands of FC Barcelona (1-3).
Vidal’s switch from Juventus to Bayern Munich is widely perceived as an upgrade. Obviously, that very upgrade entails that the buccaneering 28-year-old will face a more arduous competition for places in Munich comparing to the one there is behind the Alps.
However, considering Bayern’s humongous outlay on him (£30 m approximately), one can only expect the Chilean to be an automatic starter in the Allianz Arena.
