Tyson Fury: Britains craziest ever world champion

by -

On Saturday night Tyson Fury defied the odds by beating Wladimir Klitschko to become the new and undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and holder of the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring belts. In a dominant display Fury won by an unanimous decision of 115-112, 115-112, 116-111, dethroning the Russian and ending his 10-year reign of the heavyweight division.

After being announced the winner of the bout Fury was at his entertaining best and decided to serenade his wife with Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing. The biggest surprise was that he sang quite well and could probably win this year’s X Factor when you add the fact he actually has some remnants of a genuine personality.

Fury is known for his antics and he has been involved in many a controversial moment on his way up the ladder. He has backed himself as the man to ignite the world of boxing with his character with an intent to entertain and put on a show. Aged 27, he still has a lot to show and will be around for many a year to come.

Fury does crazy. He revels in it. So much so that he may come across as if he has mental issues. Klitschko claimed that Fury was “bipolar psychopath”.

Let’s take a look back at a few of the craziest moments that led up to the match:

Fury becomes Batman

At the first press conference in England for the match against Klitschko, the Manchester traveller turned up in a yellow Lamborghini dressed up in a Batman outfit. Making a late entrance he then brought the theatre, calling out an audience member dressed as The Joker before apprehending him. In true Fury style, he took over the press conference and left the Russian looking stunned and dare I say extremely boring.

Klitschko must have wondered what he had let himself in for from the very first press conference. It was clear then that Fury and his team - more noticeably father and trainer Peter Fury - do not follow normal procedures and were prepared to do things their way. Wladimir looks visibly bemused as Tyson was not prepared to give up the starring contest as the press took pictures.

Fury seranades Klitschko

As both fighters arrived in Dusseldorf, Germany for a public training session at the airport, Fury was goaded by his team into singing a song. After a few seconds of deliberation he decided to sing Wing Beneath My Wings and dedicated it to Klitschko. It was a thing of beauty.

Congratulations Tyson Fury, our new world heavyweight champion of the world!!!!!
