Welcome to the last instalment of The Apprentice 2015! In this article we will be going through the hour long episode where the final contestants, Vana Koutsomitis, with her inventive but very risky dating app business plan, and Joseph Valente whose business plan is to simply expand his engineering business across the UK. At the end of the day however Lord Sugar only gets to pick one apprentice to be his next business partners and after making them jump through so many hoops who will he pick.

With Vana answering the red phone the final two quickly headed to city hall, London’s political power house. They were soon told that their final task was to release their product, with the help of their fellow fired candidates they were told they needed to create a digital billboard along with a video etc. They soon picked their teams, with Joseph taking Gary, Brett, Elle and Mergim. Vana was left with Richard, Charleine, Ruth and Natalie. It seems that only a select few of the candidates were invited back, looks like invites got lost for Scott, Sam, April and Selina and even more!!

It seems Vana chose well in regards to Richard who she thinks has the best ideas when it comes to the digital billboard, Joseph however was soon criticised by Lady Brady for picking the team he best liked rather than the best team suitable to help him get his plan out there. Vana choses the name Date Play for her app, a little boring however and she doesn’t want too much fun; in an app with games? At least they had a name however it took Joseph forever to come up with, prime time plumbers.

It seems like most tasks in the series, Richard is taking over again and Charleine is soon to pick up on it. With joseph being told that renewable energy is at least 15 years in the future and a huge risk yet it happens to be at the front of his business plan, Vanas team however is making sure they check out other dating apps and websites by taking a trip to eHarmony headquarters and asking the key questions; the most important part is make sure it isn’t cheesy which Vana doesn’t agree with at all.

So far Joseph happens to be blind in his approach and focusing way too much on the logo. Vana seems to come across a tad homophobic when she criticised the new look at relationships and sticking with a stereotypical male and female couple. So far I am rooting for team Joseph although it doesn’t look like its coming together for him.

It seems that when it comes to the videos however Vana came out of her shell and became a total dragon boss, Megrim on the other hand is a terrible actor and couldn’t stop laughing every 5 seconds. With both business plans it seems the long game is the one which needs to be played but Joseph is in the lucky position of not using Sugars investment up in a couple of months unlike Vana.

The finalists are on their way to their big pitches although when it comes to the public feedback Joseph had negative after negative feedback and it wasn’t looking any better for Vana when she was told that someone’s dad would use her app. It seems one person on the apprentice has caught the eye of many on twitter as well, see below.

Up first for their proposal to a room full of industry experts, Vana Koutsomitis. She had a microphone but yet she still decided to shout? Although she introduced the video with a professional stance and the video wasn’t that tragic the music wasn’t the best match. Although she was professional Lord Sugar didn’t like the fact that Vana told a room full of experts that she would run out of money and would need to fundraise in the future and when the questions started that was one of the first. Vana answered each question however with precision and facts that backed up her points. 6.5/10, good but too many flaws.

Next up was Joseph Valente and although he knew what he had to say he still needed to tell himself not to be nervous. He was charming and on point when it came to the presentation of his proposal although maybe boring and less enthusiastic than Vana, the video was very informal and spot on as well with links to their social media; a lot more upmarket than Vana as well. He answered the questions very well and as he said ‘smashed it’. 7.5/10, brilliant but needs to be more focused.

For the final time the finalists were taken in the board room for Lord Sugar and his advisor’s to decide their fate and find who is hired. The banter between Mergim and Lord Sugar in the board room was priceless. Its seems that when in the board room Joseph had all the compliments however Vana was a lot more criticised and told she had selective hearing and doesn’t pick up on the negative points but Richard soon stuck up for her by telling Lord Sugar it was a great opportunity.

It finally came down to the final choice that Sugar had to make, he first however grilled the final two candidates in order to make the right choice, he understood that his investment for Vana would just be the seed in her business plan and would only make a small dent in the proposal. He then told Joseph that he didn’t want Anne Robinson phoning him at 12 at night for a comment on cowboy plumbers although Joseph decided to convince sugar that he was trustworthy.

Only one can be hired when it comes to the apprentice however and after much deliberation with Lady Brady and Claude Littner it was time to make the final choice and with that the hired candidate of 2015 was…..

Thanks for checking out my final apprentice article and let me know if you think Lord Sugar made the correct decision or if you think Vana should have been hired.
