Just breath your way through anxiety

Just breath your way through anxiety

Anxiety and breathing your way forward

We have all become dedicated members of the age of anxiety. Every morning we wake up allowing anxiety to mechanically manifest in our body and mind. It has become an innate part of us.

Some of us are over worked, while the rest of us voluntarily force our minds to absorb pressure, becoming restless and fighting to find purpose in our lives. Either way, we all find ourselves facing the same predicament, we are unable to relax, why? We have let our anxiety take charge. We long to have free time to ourselves, but once we get it we are unable to use it because we don’t know how.

When life presents us too much to endure, it is not unheard of for people to crack and fall through the surface. Some have an emotional breakdown, while others experience full blown anxiety attacks. When this occurs, the mind is like a computer, overloaded with too many files. It becomes over-heated, ready to crash.

This is a clear signal that the computer is in need of rebooting! One begins to hyperventilate getting high on oxygen, completely overwhelmed, crying and drowning in their own tears. In that moment of chaos, the world appears to be an apocalyptic nightmare with no escape. But there is a way out.

The paramedic walks in and says “Darling just breath…..take a deep breath in for three seconds, and exhale for three seconds.” It almost seems patronising and an insult to our intelligence to suggest something so simple, but the simplicity of the solution is the key to our freedom. Breathing is the way to reboot the mind and body.

In that moment of craziness the body naturally urges you to breath. This is the origin and foundation of yoga. We actively encourage ourselves to focus and discipline our breathing. You inhale with the belief that you will restore balance and control in your life and exhale, actively flushing out the toxins. You breath with conviction and attitude!

Many become overwhelmed by several forms of traditional and modern yoga, forcing their minds to reach a peaceful state immediately. This is a lot of pressure to put on the mind and body which defeats the purpose of doing such an exercise. We should concentrate on our breathing. It is the driving force of yoga. Disciplining your breathing, effectively disciplines the mind, which then disciplines the body. All three aspects of your existence interact in perfect harmony. You are now in control.
