Jose Mourinho gets the boot
Chelsea bring the Portugeuse manager’s second tenure to an end
It seems crazy to think that Chelsea and Jose Mourinho were celebrating winning the title just over 6 months ago and if you fast forward to the present day the London based side find themselves at the wrong end of the Premier League. They are perilously close to the relegation places and positive results are seeming hard to come by. The season didn’t see the blues have the best of starts as they drew 2-2 at Swansea in a game that saw Mourinho reduce team doctor’s Eva Carneiro responsibilities after treating Eden Hazard for an apparent injury.
Results in the league have been surprising to say the least for Chelsea as they have already lost an unexpected 9 games out the 16 games they have played so far this season. The defeat at top of the table Leicester City turned out to be the final straw for Mourinho as Russian owner Roman Abramovich saw no choice but to relinquish the special one’s managerial services. It brings to an end the second tenure of the Portuguese manager that began in June 2013.
Mourinho will always have a place in the hearts of fans and players alike at Chelsea football club but football is a ruthless business these days. If results don’t pick up quickly a decision has to be made by the owner of a football club. The Portugeuse manager follows other notable premier league sackings this season that include Tim Sherwood and Gary Monk.
