The Carrie Diaries features Anna Sophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw who is in her junior year during the 1980s. The show highlights the questions that every teenager will ponder in the adolescent years.
The first season presents us with a young Carrie Bradshaw who is unsure of herself, however helps to grow with the help of her first love Sebastian Kidd. Sebastian, played by teen heartthrob Austin Butler, is enough to start any girl watching. Am I right?
After Carrie gets a job in the city at her dads old law firm, her life starts looking up. Carrie had always dreamed of living in the city, and missing school once a week to commute was an easy compromise for 16year old Carrie. But Carrie’s journey doesn’t stop there, after meeting Larissa, the head of a top New York magazine, her life changes forever. She becomes Larissa’s intern whilst still struggling with school, her part time job and her one true love.
Series 2 takes it to a new level and emphasises the struggles of being a teenager in the 1980s. We learn more about Carries best friend Walt. It introduces Walt’s struggle of being young and gay in a suburban settlement. Although the city is far more accepting, Castlebury, Connecticut is struggling to accept the new and far more open Walt.
So, wether you want to re-live your childhood or you want to grow up alongside Carrie, its definitely worth another watch.
