Stars come out in force for Radio 1 Teen Awards 2015.

Wembley arena was the place to be last night, as the Radio 1 Teen Awards 2015 took place and celebrities came out in force to attend the annual event. The Radio 1 event has been held since 2008 and is specifically aimed at teenagers aged between 14 to 17 years old.

The huge event includes special performances from the hottest music acts, as well as awards given to both celebrities and inspirational young people. This year the event was hosted by DJ and X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw, with help from a number of co-hosts that included: Rita Ora, Demi Lovato, The Vamps and Youtuber Troye Sivan.

An audience of 10,000 teens were treated to performances from Little Mix, Nick Jonas, All Time Low, Demi Lovato and 5 Seconds of Summer. Justin Bieber also popped by for a surprise performance for the opening of the show. The singer electrified the audience with performances of ‘Where Are U Now’, ‘Boyfriend’ and ‘What Do You Mean?’.

One Direction were big winners at the event, taking home 2 of the top awards. They received the award for ‘Best British Group’ and ‘Friday Downloads Best Single’ for their hit song ‘Drag Me Down’. Unfortunately, they were not available to collect their award in person, instead DJ and presenter Greg James picked the awards up on their behalf and announced they would be appearing on Radio 1 on Thursday 12th November to perform a special live lounge session.

As well as celebrity awards, 3 inspirational teenagers received awards. 14 year old Rosie from Coventry, a fundraiser with a highly malignant primary brain tumour, 16 year old Aaren from Bristol, who was born with gender dysphoria and 14 year old Alice, a carer from Gloucestershire, all received awards for their inspirational achievements.
