Film Review: 47 Ronin

Film Review: 47 Ronin

by -

A film about samurai's, leadership and vengeance.

Not quite The Matrix, but Keanu Reeves still has it, not that “it” ever went anywhere. 47 Ronin is an action packed fantasy film that you don’t want to miss. When 47 samurai turn Ronin after the death of their master, they have only one thing on their mind, vengeance.

The film stars the obvious Keanu Reeves, as what is in my eyes the main focus of the movie and although he starts off hates he soon finds his way and is able to lead the now Ronin into battle to avenge their master. 47 Ronin also stars Hiroyuki Sanada who you may have also recently seen in The Wolverine and Ko Shibasaki, who plays Mika the masters daughter.

With witches, demons, samurai and evil lords to overcome the journey isn’t a short one for the 47 Ronin but they manage to pull it off and in style as well, one of the best modern sieges I have seen in a long time, portrayed on film that is.

To sum 47 Ronin up I would have to say it is a fast paced action love story. However with the result not quite how it should be, he doesn’t exactly get the girl but there are a few exciting twists at the end that are designed to make everyone cry with joy.

47 Ronin

47 Ronin get a huge 4.5 stars from me, I find it difficult to fault and the only thing I could say against it is that it was slightly slow to start but that’s nothing once it gets going! Another great film from Universal and I don’t normally pick out quotes but this has to be my favourite from the entire film, touching, loving and sweet.

“I will search for you, to a thousand worlds and ten thousand life times. Until I find you.”

One last thing I would like to add before you watch the trailer below, it was loosely based on true events which in my eyes makes it even more amazing!
