‘Empire’ star wants out of his contract

‘Empire’ star wants out of his contract

Trai Byers who plays Andre Lyon on the hit television series Empire, reportedly wants to leave the show.

Sources say that the excitement he first had when receiving the role has vanished due to feeling that his character lacks development. An inside rep stated that “At first, being on ‘Empire’ was major for him. But he feels his character is not as important this season, and he hates not being the star.”

Byers is frustrated because he feels that he possesses the acting power of on screen parents Taraji P. Henson (who plays Cookie Lyon) and Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon).

Another report shares that:

“He feels that he studied at Yale and he’s a ‘true thespian’ . . . The character is beneath him. He has an idea of himself as being this big Shakespearean actor.”

Trai Byers threw a number of tantrums on and off set and telling crew members that he doesn’t get to do enough and that he might leave. Fed up producers of Empire explained that they would be more than willing to let him go as to call his bluff on his threats. Since the show is in its last week of shooting for Season 3, he has not quit nor has been fired, but who knows what will happen if the show is renewed for a forth season.

It’s defiantly a pool of actors in Hollywood who would love to replace him as the role of Andre Lyon if producers want to keep the character and they’re just waiting for Byers to slip up for the last time.
