31st Autumn cultural event starts on 24th September 2015
The Ayia Napa International festival is one of the most popular festivals in Cyprus with many music performances, fireworks, dance shows and a lot of entertainment.
From the very beginning, in September 1985, it has been established as an annual event. The festival is reflecting the historical, cultural and agricultural traditions of the Ayia Napa region.
The tourist and visitors of Ayia Napa can watch the main events in the main city square, and around the old monastery are, among others, theatrical performances, concerts of Cypriot and foreign folk dancing groups.
Also, there are a lot of other events. You will find exhibitions, agricultural fairs and demonstrations of old crafts taking place in the yard of Agrotospito Museum (also known as Country House Museum), located near the Ayia Napa Monastery.
Look out for food. You’ll see the manufacturing of zivania, halloumi cheese, bread…
Highlighrs of the main program are:
– 24th September, 9.00 PM. Film Screening of “The Grand Goddess of Cyprus”.
- 25th September, 9.30 PM. A night dedicated to Manos Hadjidakis (composer and theorist of Greek music) and to Vassilis Tsitsanis (Greek songwriter and bouzouki player).
– 26th September, 9.00 PM. A concert of the tenor Marios Frangoulis named “Beautiful Things”, with the participation of the soprano Deborah Mayers.
- 27th September, 9.30 PM. “90 years Mikis Theodorakis” concert with Pantelis Thalassinos and Sofia Papazoglou, devoted to Greek songwriter and composer, Mikis Theodorakis who has written over 1000 songs.
Particularly interesting will be attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by dancing the largest Greek dance “ZEIMPEKIKO”. So, everybody can join in and help in achieving that goal!
